Frequently Asked Questions

Is the procedure safe?

Endoscopic microsuction is considered one of the safest methods of removing ear wax due to the ear canal and ear drum being under clear and constant view during the procedure.

Does ear wax removal hurt?

Most individuals will find the procedure comfortable and pain-free. Some may find the suction from the machine a little bit noisy but very rarely is this overbearing.

How often should I have ear wax removal?

This varies from person to person, but we recommend to book in for an examination if it has been more than 12 months since your last appointment or if you are experiencing symptoms of ear wax build up.

Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

It is not necessary to take action before your appointment, however oil drops can be used for a few days prior should you wish to do so, as this can help to soften hard wax.

What if the treatment cannot be completed in one visit?

Very infrequently, an individual may require a follow up appointment, for example if the ear wax is too impacted. On these occasions, we will return free of charge at a later date to complete the procedure.

What methods of wax removal do you use?

Endoscopic microsuction, gentle water irrigation and manual removal tools.
